hamas and fatah supporters clash at university

More from those lovely folks in Gaza:

Hamas police and supporters on Monday beat a number of professors and students of Al Azhar University, the last bastion of Fatah in Gaza, wounding several, witnesses said. Hamas denied it had acted improperly and said the police restored order. The students and staff were protesting a rally that Hamas insisted on holding inside the university campus in memory of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, the founder of the militant Islamic group who was killed in an Israeli air strike in March 2004.

Al Azhar University has continued to operate, despite having been raided five times since Hamas routed rival Fatah forces and took control of Gaza last June.

Before dawn on Monday, Hamas activists entered the compound and set up equipment for the rally, hanging pictures of Hamas leaders and Hamas flags. When members of the academic staff protested outside, Hamas police beat them with clubs, said Ayman Shaheen, a professor of political science. Mr. Shaheen said he was hit twice.

“All they know is the language of force,” Mr. Shaheen said of Hamas. “We try to talk to them but they don’t listen.” [emphasis mine -ed]

And for some reason Condi Chamberlain and the Appeasement Monkeys expect they’ll listen to the U.S. or Israel… or work with Fatah.  Yeah.

  1. No, I think – could be wrong though – that Rice is hoping for Fatah to sit out the upcoming eradication of Hamas by the Israeli military. If Fatah sits it out, Israel will have fewer opponents and it won’t actually be a genocide, just the removal of one dangerous terrorist faction that rose to political power.

  2. hmm…

    First of all.

I love the new theme Melo :D

Secondly, jonolan, eradicating HAMAS would, in fact, be eliminating a dangerous Islamic terrorist organization. I don’t know why you would even mention ‘Genocide’ for there is nothing that Israel has done that has not been a response to radical Muslim jihadists.

  3. I agree that Hamas needs eradication. I properly mentioned genocide, because I believe that Israel is gearing up for a massive offensive. If all the Palestinians are involved than the UN sanctions against genocide would actually apply. If Fatah “sits it out,” that is no longer the case.

We had the same issue in Afghanistan. The UN was concerned that we were eliminating the Pashtun race and culture because so many of them were in the Taliban. The genocide prohibitions made them nervous.

  4. Thank you, Konservo.
