Okay, so I’m inspired to pull a Rapture Ralph: YES!!!!! YES!!!!! YES!!!!!!! She is the VEEP choice I wanted: Sarah Barracuda!
Thanks to Konservo for creating the Palin poster at my request.
UPDATE: People are really digging the Rosie the Riveter poster. Even Michelle Malkin has picked it up. Did my guy do good or what?
UPDATE: Fred Barnes (he’s great on The Beltway Boys) has a Wall Street Journal column about Palin’s appeal.
A mother of five, she has an enormously appealing life story. She was a high-school basketball star and beauty queen. She’s been mayor of Wasilla (her hometown near Anchorage), Alaska’s top regulator of the oil industry, and governor for less than two years. She has no experience in foreign or national-security policy — unlike Joe Biden, the veteran Democrat she’ll face in the nationally televised vice presidential debate in October. But she’s an expert on one of this year’s biggest issues — energy.
Because Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has relatively little experience in national affairs, the bar has been lowered this year for national candidates. This helps Mrs. Palin. As a governor, she has more executive experience than Mr. Obama.
And she has a record of integrity matched by few elected officials. Mrs. Palin resigned in protest in 2004 as head of the Alaska Oil and Gas Commission over alleged ethical violations by the state Republican chairman, a commission member. Two years later, she upset Republican Gov. Frank Murkowski in the primary and defeated a Democrat in the general election.

Pros:
1. She’s a woman and is sure to attract undecided Hillary voters and apathetic female voters.
2. She’s young to offset McCain’s elderly status.
3. She’s wildly popular in Alaska with 80+% approval ratings.
4. She’s conservative enough to not piss off most conservative voters.
5. She’s a MILF.
6. She admits to having smoked the reefer.
Cons:
1. She admits to having smoked the reefer.
2. She’s an uppity woman who doesn’t know her place which is sure to piss off some conservative voters.
3. In a campaign where McCain has made a big issue about Obama’s youth and inexperience, she’s younger and has much less experienced.
4. She’s wildly popular in Alaska which was already a red state and only brings 3 electoral votes.
5. Her husband works for “Big Oil.”
6. She’s soft on gays and other minorities which will also piss off some conservative voters.
7. This might be a pro to some, but she supports teaching creationism in schools which proves she knows nothing about science.
1. eh. at least she admitted it.
2. I think the wife/mother/hunter/fisherwoman offsets that.
3. I wouldn’t say that she’s more inexperienced (she definitely has more executive experience)… and even if she is, she’s not #1 on the ticket.
4. She’s wildly popular in Alaska… for taking on corruption in her own party.
5. Her husband’s a common worker… they don’t look elitist.
6. Her staunch pro-life record will offset that.
7. Eh… that’s never going to make it through any federal bills.
I really don’t see this as a pick that is going to piss off conservatives… and other than the “creationism” stupidity, I don’t see that she’ll piss off the Republican libertarians.
On the creationism thing via LGF:
Hmmm… sounds like she’s an expert at political pandering, but she’s got a long way to go if she’s going to offset McCain’s big, insensitive mouth and out-pander Obama. Let the panderathon begin!
Yep… does the pandering fall into the category of “hope” or “change”?
One other thing, smoking marijuana wasn’t illegal under Alaska law when Palin did it.

I can’t believe you people think that she is actually going to do McCain any good. She’s under investigation for abuse of power, and the laundry list of her “other” unethical behavior is a mile long. Plus, she has next to zero relevant political experience. What, 21 months as governor of the least populous state in the union, and two terms as mayor of a town who’s population is less than some urban high schools? Yeah, that’s great. If McCain had chosen anyone other than this corrupt Jesus freak, he may have stood a chance of earning a lot more votes. It isn’t McCain that scares the crap out of me; it’s the people around him, Palin included.
I was looking forward to a close hard-fought election, but the selection of Palin as veep candidate just closed the book on McCain’s nose.
I find it somewhat remarkable that out of a “laundry list” “a mile long” you have given no examples. I’m not sure how many cities you had in mind, but only sixteen are more populous. Furthermore, in attacking her experience, perhaps you should remember that she is not the top of the ticket.
I gather that you are scared of her, but calling people Jesus Freaks is a bit juvenile, don’t you think? Maybe you should consider that the reason this pick scares you so much is that it might actually help McCain’s chances.
John McCain and Sarah Palin recently paid Albuquerque, NM a visit. I am an Idependent and My vote will go to Republican Party. FYI, I saw this great version of Palin/Rosie poster at http://www.zazzle.com/spacedust
I hope you enjoy looking forward to high gas prices, an uncaring administration when it comes to health care and lots of tax breaks for the rich, good luck!
“I hope you enjoy looking forward to high gas prices”
You mean if the Big 0 gets elected, and drilling for our own fossil fuels is halted as we wait for the “coming breakthroughs” in alternative energy … economics be damned?
“an uncaring administration when it comes to health care”
As opposed to an administration that, by controlling health care, will have the unchecked ability to violate our civil liberties to a far greater degree than even your worst nightmares about Bush/Cheney/Ashcroft?
“and lots of tax breaks for the rich”
As opposed to new “market opportunities” for influence peddling in an expanded government, without the fast negative feedback of the free market to stop unproductive behavior … even as we indiscriminately choke off the vast majority of PRODUCTIVE rich people, and the derivatives of their activity — jobs, business opportunities, cost-effective innovations for us all?
That’s not change … that’s change back. With the Big 0, we will party like it’s Nineteen Seventy-Nine!
“good luck!”
I don’t believe in luck … I believe in prudence.
And electing Maverick and his RIO (callsign Saracuda), instead of the BB (Big 0/Biden) ticket, is prudence.
