Is this what passes for feminism these days?

I did not think that women being downgraded to second-class, three-holed chattel would be a pressing concern in my lifetime.

Why is it that leftist feminists have taken it upon themselves to degrade all of us women by reducing our existence to a reproductive system?  Cintra Wilson, who by the way is Pissed About Palin, has written a disgusting column at Salon.  Apparently, she missed the irony when she proclaimed that she did not think we would be downgraded to “three-holed chattel.”  I’m not sure a letter to Penthouse would have been nearly so effective at making a woman a function of her holes as Wilson’s unhinged column.

In attacking Sarah Palin for not mindlessly following the hardline, inflexible reproductive rules of the left and for not being nearly so chic as herself and her barfing-into-their-handbags friends, Wilson seems to miss that it is she, not Palin, who is comical (in the most unfunny of ways) and is perpetrating something “akin to ideological brain rape”.  Her hysterical ranting evokes the worst stereotypes about female reasoning.

Whatever happened to freedom of choice?  Why would we as women want to so marginalize ourselves by becoming a single, faceless voting bloc hopelessly bound together by a single issue?  Why would we as women want to suppress our individuality?  No one expects these things of men.

Cintra Wilson is a self-abnegating Aunt Tommy, rattling her chastity belt keys and surrendering her intellectual sovreignty to a bankrupt and rigid ideology.  I will be voting for McCain-Palin.  My ovaries, and I’m not sure how they feel about it, will have little to do with the process.
